Eight years ago, Sabre was that promising little puppy in our whelping box. You could see his quality and show attitude as soon as he was able to walk. It was Sabre that your eye always went to. Karen would come every weekend for a short visit and would stay all day. Karen had already fallen in love with Sabre. He was the one dragging her camera down the hallway. We had intended in keeping Sabre at home with us. Karen coaxed and begged. We were in a dilema, because we had a puppy with a lot of potential and basically a novice owner, who was interested in handling her own dog. We caved in because we knew the kind of home Sabre would receive. We place Sabre on a co-ownership and have never regretted it.

From the first moments, Sabre and Karen were a very devoted team. In the show ring their devotion to each other shone through. They worked in unison. Many times we have said, that we built Sabre, but Karen made him. He would never have shown for anyone else with such love in his eye.

Those that did not know Sabre will remember him for his show record and for the wonderful children and grand children that he has produced. For those that knew him, and the things we will remember most will be his personality. The way he never forgot anyone he knew, even when he didn't see them often. How he would demand attention from the handlers and anyone he thought might have a treat or a cuddle for him. Everyone at the shows knew Sabre, not just the Boxer people. He was an ambassador for the breed. People, we didn't even know, would come to watch Sabre in the ring as he floated effortlessly around the ring.

If it wasn't for Sabre we would not have developed the deep friendship with Karen. We call her our daughter.

Sabre did see Karen through some very tough times, divorce, the loss of Oggie and then Chyna and some lonely times. Then a wonderful thing happened and Rick came into Karen's life and they were married this summer. Sabre had gently brought Karen into the arms of Rick. He knew that Karen was now in safe arms and his job here was done.

There are truly angels among us and Sabre was one of them. The competition in heaven just got a bit tougher.

Rest in peace sweet boy. We love you and we miss you. Thanks for the ride.
